You too can Bond with a Sony Ericsson C902 Titanium!

October 23rd, 2008

Fancy your chances as a secret agent? You may not have his physique, rugged good looks or his women, but you could have his phone!

The Sony Ericsson C902 in Titanium silver is the latest mobile phone association with Secret Agent James Bond, and Mr. Bond uses the Sony Ericsson in his latest movie. The phone will be available for a limited period and will include a memory card loaded with a host of 007 content.

Users will get the chance to know exactly what it takes to be a secret agent like James Bond with the first level of an exclusive pre-loaded spy-style game. In addition, the full colour trailer of the film, behind-the-scenes interviews with the stars and exclusive content such as wallpapers and screen savers will be available on the phone and the memory card.

The C902 Cyber-shot TM phone is used throughout the film by James Bond to capture evidence and assist the agent on his mission and really lives up our high expectations. It has an amazingly good camera phone with a 5 megapixel camera and a unique slide-out lens cover, illuminated touch icons with face-detection autofocus. Great for Bond to photograph the bevy of beauties he always seems to encounter on his assignments, or in more practical terms for Bond to send high resolution shots back to MI6 for quick recognition of his enemies. An Accelerometer feature senses which way up the phone is being held, and will automatically rotate your pictures into portrait or landscape mode, great for when Bond is on the run!

It’s a classic-style handset, but is also ultra-slim measuring just 10.5mm. The keypad has good-size square keys giving tactile feedback and enabling fast texting for when Bond’s on the move. We’re also delighted to find a 5-way navigation pad that really works.

Although its a Cyber-Shot phone, the C902 has great music capabilities too, brilliant for all those romantic Bond moments. The PlayNow™ feature also lets you personalise your phone by downloading an MP3 ringtone, we’re guessing Bond will chose Another Way To Die. You can plug in a stereo headphone, or use an optional Bluetooth stereo headset for safe hands free talking/driving. It also packs in FM radio with HSDPA support enabling an “always-on” internet connection with download speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps - comparable with a home broadband connection. As well as being 3G, it’s a quadband and will hold loads of memory, a must for all those encrypted messages Bond will receive from MI 6!! And in addition it’s a super slim stylish/elegant handset available in Black Red or Titanium.

Battery life is adequate, but ultraslim phones tend to have shorter battery lives than conventional phones, which isn’t surprising. The smaller screen size does help to reduce power consumption, and we don’t think that the battery life will be an issue for most users. We had hoped that the C902 would be free of bugs, but a number of users have reported problems with the phone freezing or crashing occasionally which could spell disaster for Bond! It seems that Sony Ericsson still need to improve the reliability of their firmware.

Still we love this phone! It seems like Sony Ericsson have gone back to a design that works, not just for Bond but for all us Bond wannabees too!!

Texting has grave implications!

October 20th, 2008

According to the BBC, people are now asking to be buried or cremated with their trusty mobiles.  “People wanted to be buried with the totems that they felt represented their lifestyle,” Martin Raymond, director of international trend-spotting think tank, The Future Laboratory told us ”We came across one guy who asked to be buried with his mobile phone and his BlackBerry, and also with his laptop.”

So when Frank Jones’ wife died unexpectedly it seemed completely natural to bury her with her constant companion…….her mobile phone.

But now Jones is convinced that his wife is phoning and texting him from beyond the grave. Shortly after her death he claims he missed a call from her phone to their house which when he entered it was awash with the scent of her perfume.  And he’s been receiving text messages containing words that only she would say.  And spookily there is no return number on the messages/missed calls, convincing Jones that his wife is making contact from the other side!  Most probabley she wants to upgrade her present model!

The Pantech Breeze cell phone would be a great choice, designed with the elderley in mind it features three big speed dial buttons a loud speaker and large font!  Also has great battery life too, eleven hours of talk time.  Now thats what i call heavenly!!

How to Install a Memory Card

October 18th, 2008

A memory card is almost the heart of the mobile phone today. It is the main data storage of your mobile phone. Apart from the operating system and default files, everything you have on your mobile phone is stored on the memory card. Of course, a few years ago memory cards were not the major part of a mobile phone, even unneeded, but not in today’s world, when the mobile phone has become a entertainment machine along with a communication device.

Also, the amount of data storage that you have may sometimes not be sufficient. The basic memory card capacities  2 GB, 4GB and it goes on to 8 and 16 GB now in the more advanced mobile phones. You might need a big storage capacity memory card, also known as a data card, if you are using your mobile phone for saving music, themes, images and other media. Of course, it depends on the resolution of the images as well as the format of the music files that you use.  After getting conversant with the mobile phone, you might feel like upgrading your memory card. Sadly, there is no way to upgrade your current memory card to increase its storage capacity. You will have to simply replace the memory card for a memory card with a greater storage capacity.

Installing a memory card is quite an easy task. It can either be done by you, or it can be done by the guy you buy it from.  Basically, all you have to do is to look for the slot on the mobile phone. Once you get the slot, open the slot, and insert the memory card. You should hear a click sound, and see that the memory card has been installed in the slot before closing the slot; otherwise, the memory card will not work with your mobile phone.

You have to be a bit careful while installing a memory card. A memory card is an internal device, and you might be voiding the warranting of the mobile phone as well as the memory card if you do not insert the memory card properly. Never, for any reason, insert any foreign object like a pin or a knife in the memory card slot. The mobile phones have a circuit like everything else electrical and you may burn or cut the circuit with these pins and knives.

How to Upload Music on Your Memory Card

October 18th, 2008

The mobile phone has changed a lot since the past few years. From a simple conversation device to a device that is a complete entertainment and education machine, it has certainly changed many things in our lives. Today, a good mobile phone should have a good camera, a good mp3 player with good sound quality and of course good design.
A good Mp3 player does not mean a mobile phone with only a good sound quality. A good Mp3 player should also have good intuitive software to upload music into the mobile phone. Also, it should support all the latest formats and then some more. Here are some ways to upload music to your memory card.
If your mp3 player has good software, the best way is to install it on your computer and connect it to your computer via the USB wire. Make sure that the drivers and software provided along with the purchase are the latest ones. There have been cases where the hardware has not been recognized because of obsolete drivers and software. Depending on the interface, you can simply import the files you wish to get onto the mobile phone into the software first, and then transfer it into any of the folders that you might wish to. This is just a general way of uploading music on your mobile phone via your computer. Of course, if you know someone who owns a Bluetooth enabled mobile phone and has the particular music, you can simply transfer the music from mobile phone to mobile phone via Bluetooth, and be done with it.
Mostly some lower range mobile phones do not come with an interface or software to upload music in the mobile phone. In such cases, you will have to depend on the Windows Explorer to upload music to your mobile phone. If and when Windows Explorer recognizes your mobile phone and its memory card, all you would have to do is to copy and paste the relevant music files from the computer system to the mobile phone. Of course, this is the simplest way to do it, but you might find it a bit complex and cumbersome to handle the files once they are into the mobile phone, because they mostly will not be in a playlist or any other system.
These are the two basic ways in which you can transfer music onto your memory card. You will need the USB wire and device driver CD to install your mobile phone on your computer, so that your computer ‘recognizes’ your mobile phone easily and quickly.

Some useful tips for Formatting Your Memory Card

October 18th, 2008

Like the hard disk, even your memory card may sometimes be crammed with data. Ever had one of those days when you couldn’t save a phone book entry because you had too many MP3 songs and themes, well I have had those.

Many a times, formatting your entire memory card is the best option if you have to make space in your memory card. There are several ways of doing this. Some cell phones are generous enough to give us a formatting option, which lets us format the entire memory card with a single click. However, if you do not have this option, here are some other ways to do it:

Manually Delete: That’s right. Go to your cell phone memory, select all the unwanted data you have and press delete. Yes, this method can be a bit tiresome for people who are not comfortable with the keypad on the cell phone.

Attach to the Computer: probably the best way if you do not have a format option on your cell phone. You can attach the memory card to the computer via two ways, one with the USB wire and software drivers that you got with your purchase or with the help of a memory card. Once you install the necessary software and the computer identifies your cell phone, you will get a Windows Explorer interface for your cell phone – yes, there is a God out there!

After that, it’s a simple question of right clicking the memory card and formatting. However, you have to understand that formatting a cell phone memory card is a permanent job and you will not be getting any of the media and data that you have saved on it. Of course, the operating system and default files of the cell phone are stored on the cell phone memory so you will not lose them, but other than that, you will pretty much lose everything on your cell phone.

Therefore, make sure that you backup all your important data before you go ahead and format your memory card. On the other hand, there are several individuals who would just dump their memory cards and buy a new one. And that does go well in the long run because the more you format a media, the less its life becomes. And don’t worry about losing any data, they will transfer all the data you need into the new memory card.
